Tucked away on the Novarese hills, you will find a a corner of the world where you can immerse yourselves in the regenerative silence of the countryside, let time flow lazily with the slow rythm of bygone times.
Cascina Visconti is in the village of Agrate Conturbia, 10 minutes away from Lake Maggiore, 20 minutes from Lake Orta.
The building measures 400 square metres, on three floors, in the centre of the village. The oldest part of the building was present on the local cadastre maps in 1700, while the main body was built in the early 1800s. The house is surrounded by 1 hectar of land; it was at the heart of a rural community and still today -or so our guests have told us- you can breathe its special charm. The guests have many spaces to use, such as the library, the dining room, the portico and the garden.
There are three rooms for guests, with a B&B formula (breakfast included), each one with an exclusive bathroom.
It is also possible to reserve the entire property, without the bed and breakfast modality.
Enrichetta is a room that families will love, very light and with plenty of space for additional beds.
Teresa is the old master bedroom, airy and elegant.
Caterina is the most private and intimate room, tucked away and separate from the rest of the house.
The farmhouse offers spaces to organize events, such as weddings, ceremonies, private parties and office and team retreats, workshops and trainings.
Inside the house, there is a reception room of 100 square metres, with a marvellous vaulted ceiling. Formerly these were the stables and cellars. It can comfortably seat up to 70 people.
Outside, there is a large fenced garden – a space which is safe for children- with an old well at the centre, a testimony of old times. The portico offers shelter in case of rain and is a perfect area for buffet tables when the weather is hot. The old hay barn is now a terrace and can host up to 30 people. Outside the garden walls, there is ample parking and a woodland area.

And then there is Lake Orta, romantic and inspiring, a repository of culture and mysterious legends, a beloved destination for great artists such as Nietsche, Goethe, Balzac and Enea Silvio Piccolomini. All around the lakes, there are many extraordinary places to discover and explore.

The house has always belonged to her family. It has been part of her life and memories since childhood, when she used to come here during the summer holidays to join her grandmother, great-aunt and her cousin Fulvio. For her, living in Rome and spending much of her time travelling around the world for work, the house in Agrate is the place of the heart, that brings back happy memories and a thousand emotions. She has decided to share these by opening the house up for guests who are able to appreciate a holiday outside the usual places. ‘’This is how’’ she says ‘’this house will carry on being alive’’.

Cascina Visconti has been a coup de founder. The first time she set foot in the house – it was on a summer evening- she immediately felt all the positive vibes that still accompany her. ‘’The house talks to me’’ she often repeats ‘’it smiles and me and thanks me for the attention I give to it and for bringing out its antique grace, taking care of its needs’’.
In the rooms of the house, there is much of Katia’s style and her passion for old furniture and objects and the pleasure she takes in combining them.
